2024 Spring Season

MavSelect Lacrosse

MavSelect is a club team playing within the Idaho Middle School Lacrosse Association (IMSLA).  The team is comprised of 6th, 7th and 8th Graders (and 5^th graders by exception) who will attend Mountain View High School.  The program is closely aligned with the High School coaches and players to ensure we’re teaching our youth the Mavs Way.

A few updates for the Spring Season:

• IMSLA is growing!  With the additions of Emmett and Owyhee programs this year, IMSLA is now up to 12 teams.  The final schedule is still in development but we’re anticipating that we’ll have 11 games over the 9-week regular season.
• The first game this year will be Saturday, March 2^nd and the season will conclude with the Championship Game on Saturday, May 18^th.  There are no games on Saturday, March 16^th and Saturday, March 23^rd due to Spring Break. 
• New Coaches!  After several years as Head Coach of the Mavs, Mike Bagley is stepping down so he can spend more time with his own kids (who are busy with their own activities)!  Fortunately, he’s not going far and will remain on the coaching staff as an assistant coach this season.  Stepping into the Head Coaching role for the Mavs this year is Kamiron Jackson!  Having spent the last 3 years with the program, Coach Kam knows the boys well and will do an awesome job in this expanded role.  Additionally, Coach Kam is bringing in two new coaches that will be new to the program.
  • Mark Echard – Played LSM/Defense throughout Middle/Highschool and coached for 4 years with the South Bend Bears Lacrosse Club.  Mark will primarily focus on coaching our Defense.
  • Keaton Grover – Varsity Captain and recent graduate of Mountain View High School.  Keaton will primarily focus on Offense.
• Merch!  For the first time, we’re including a Mavs Player Pack as part of registration.  Final design is still pending but we’re excited to provide all players with a Hoody, Shorts, Shooter Shirt, and Sweat Pants.  Jerseys will still be returned at the end of the season, but the player packs are theirs to keep!  Additionally, we’re working with LaxID to make MavSelect fan gear available on their team store as well.
• Winter Warm-Up Practices – We’re getting started early this year and have reserved gym space at Siena Elementary in Meridian on Mondays from 7-8:30PM.  Practices will be indoors one day/week from January 8^th through February 12^th and then will move outdoors and to our traditional 3 days/week practice schedule (M/W/Th) starting the week of February 19^th.  
• Optional Strength Training – For those interested in additional conditioning and strength training, Coach Kam is also offering optional team workouts on Wednesdays at 6:30PM at Iron Body Fitness.  These sessions again are optional and are $25 for each 1-hour session.  Please reach out to me or to Coach Kam for additional detail.
